New ashtray outside help South Africa become butt-free

There were a number of these new ashtrays installed around Gauteng to help smokers to the new legislation and promote a free South Africa butt.

The South African government has recently adopted the new smoking legislation, as I am sure you are well aware. If not, the bottom of the new law stipulates that: No smoking in "partially enclosed" public places, such as covered patios, porches, balconies, walkways and parking areas. No smoking within 5 meters of all entries. Adults may not smoke in a car when a passenger under 12 years is present. No person under 18 may be allowed to enter a smoking area. Increased fines for smoking or authorization smoking in a non-smoking area.

South Africa is following a general trend of cracking down on smoking and follows a global movement cleaner air. I think the new law will be a step in the right direction in achieving their goals. But in saying this, the new law will have a huge impact the amount of cigarette butts outside the building, a shopping mall and public space. All smokers are now smoking outside and will be looking for places to throw their butts away. If ashtrays are not sufficient in place, then the remaining option is to throw them on the ground. It can become a major problem as there is in the region of 60 million cigarettes smoked each day in South Africa. You can imagine the number of small butts be thrown on the floor of our country.

I noticed a new outdoor ashtray on the wall of a building, the other day and was very interested and had a closer look. What I found was incredible.
