How do I find the slant height of a regular hexagon?
I do not know the scope or the length of one side. I know that the distance from the middle corner of the hexagon is 10 units. I try to find the area of the hexagon and the apothem need to do this. Can you find the slant height? Or else, propose a method or formula that might help me find it? Thank you in advance!
This length of 10 units is the hypotension of a right triangle whose angles can be calculated. A regular hexagon is composed of six congruent triangles with central angle 360 / 6 = 60 degrees. The other two angles total = 180-60 120 degrees and they are each equal to 120 / 2 = 60 degrees, in the case of a regular hexagon of harmony triangles are also those equilateral. If you divide each triangle into two by a line perpendicular the cutting edge and the center point, this line will slant height. You now have two equal right triangles 30-60-90 and can easily find the length of a side of basic trigonometry.
