What were the Characteristics of a Gentleman in the Victorian Era?

I would like to know more about the social status of a gentleman. No fashion, I got that. And I want to know more about the everyday life, if possible, or any other aspect that you think is important that I should know about gentlemen from the Victorian Era.

The Victorian Gentleman, if not an Officer, held an influential position in government or business. He was educated in Geek and Latin and probably spoke French. Was a member of the Vestry (Board of Directors} of the local Anglican Churc. In manner and deportment he would have been the type of person to open doors for ladies, but believed them ignorant of political discussion. The lady’s position was to manage the household.
