Does an airbrushed french manicure last longer than hand painted?

I’ve gotten a hand painted french manicure before but it always chips on the first or second day. Will it last longer if I get it airbrushed on, or is it exactly the same? I disagree with people who say that a french manicure lasts just as long as a solid color. I have no idea why, but the white portion is very fragile. How can I get a long lasting french manicure, without keeping the tackier looking permanent french I have right now?
