Are we really One World? Differences in culture and even German
With the rising costs of child care, families U.S. are hosting an au pair in impressive numbers. There was an increase in the number of au pairs with nearly 22,000 young women residing in the United States last year, up 44% compared to 2004, this is a considerable increase and the trend seems to be growing despite the weakness economy.
The French term au pair, is a young woman who "lives like an equal" with his host family. Au pair agencies recruit young women over 55 countries, with China as a new "hot" investment for American families seeking to expose sophisticated their children in Mandarin.
Despite global connections between countries and expression politcally correct "we are all one world" are cultural differences across Europe, Asia and South America – regions largest au pair agencies recruit staff. These cultural differences add flavor and spice to the year of the family home with their au pair and both benefit from the intercultural experience.
Understanding cultural differences is essential to the success of a foster family with their behavior in the American pair can be considered rude or insulting to an au pair, and Americans can often interpret an au pair interactions with their children, etc.
One of the most popular that Americans prefer is when hosting an au pair in Germany. Let's take a look at why this is true:
The idea of traveling to the United States to become an au pair is a concept very well in Germany. These young women are motivated by several factors including desire to become more independent, to improve their English skills and learn about American culture. German youth are fascinated by American music, television programs, Hollywood stars and movies. In addition, young German women know that a year abroad who improves his English is more significant on his resume, which greatly increases their employment potential once she returns home. Therefore, the au pair program continues to be popular one year sabbatical for young women who are used to return to Germany to continue to the University. About 37% of all au pairs who come to the United States from Western Europe and 23% of this number are Germany (although in recent years, This trend seems to be decreasing).
German Culture
- Young people in Germany have much more freedom their families to socialize and date relative to their American peers. Socializing with friends is very important and German young people out in the pubs of age 16. If your au pair likes to go out and meet German, do not misunderstand what "party girl" – it will probably be sitting in a Starbucks to discuss with other au pairs German or visit the famous landmarks of our country to expand his knowledge of America.
- Curfew are not common and there is usually a relaxed and accepting attitude between parents and their teenage children.
- Young Germans mostly open-minded, well educated and tend to be ambitious about their career.
- Germans take life seriously family and most German families eat together at every meal, including lunch. Rules of the Government to allow all shops and businesses closing each day starting at 12:00 to 2:00, the family can meet for lunch. No one is late for meals.
- Germans are very private people and a great value on their time alone. It is not unusual for your German au pair to keep his door closed, while is its time "off" and during this time you have to do that children are not in the barge and embarrassment. It can interpret this behavior as very rude and intrusive.
Childcare
- Discipline techniques include talking to the child, taking candy, taking away television privileges or video, or send the child to their room.
- Corporal punishment are banned in Germany
- German au pair tend to be very organized and responsible and would spread quickly to the routine of family.

- German parents (mother or father) usually stay home with their young children at least until they old enough to attend kindergarten. Working at home is very common for parents to Germany.
- Your au pair expect German to treat children with respect, to comply with his instructions and follow the house rules. unruly or bad, is a sign of disrespect and a child who is too delivered by parents (with toys, candy, unearned privileges) is considered spoiled as a result of poor or failed parenting.
Driving Skills
- Most young au pair girls in West Germany are excellent conductors. They receive their license at the age of 18 years and the test is much more demanding and much time compared to their American peers. Most students need driving lessons 20-30 to pass the test and there is an hour's drive test practice! If Germany fails the test more than 3 times, a psychological test is then required by the state.
- Most parents have a car Youth practice and they press their teens to get certified and become good, safe drivers.
- German girls au pairs are only wanted by foster parents for their excellent driving skills making them one of the most popular couples.

- German students end their school year in June and most young women apply to reach the United States during the summer months, but before our school year begins here in the U.S. to have your plan German pair arrive in early or mid-August so she can register for fall classes at your local college.
- German au pair students are usually serious and expect to enroll in courses upon arrival. German au pair expect flexibility his parents' home so that she could attend her classes without interruption.
- West Germans are generally more educated drivers are more experienced and have better knowledge of English compared to East Germans.
- Speaking General German au pair have less difficulty assimilating into American culture and do generally suffer from culture shock. They really love American culture and we look forward to their year abroad.
- Most Germans do not extend beyond 12 months – they will return home to continue their education, start a business or to find a professional job.
With the growing trend of using au pairs as their # 1 option for child care, American families are in competition with one another for au pairs who are responsible, mature, good drivers who speak good, competent in English. German au pairs generally meet all these criteria while adding charm mixed with a world perspective young and modern. The Germans are proud of their culture and are generally pleased with our experience American – a great combination for the whole family home!
Where can I find a compatible pair of headphones for my Blackberry Pearl?
I want to use my MP3 player, but I can not find a pair of headphones. I'm looking for a pair that has rubber tips that fit your ear.
You or use headphones with the 2.5mm jack or get a converter to convert the 3.5 mm connector to 2.5 mm so it fits headphone jack Pearl. That being said, any set of headphones will work. As long as you have the converter (as most headphones / earphones have 3.5 mm) it should go.
