Poker Sit and Go Report – Category Opponent
You have less than an hour during most of Sit n Go to find out what your style of play adversaries. In some cases, you might discern that the information within minutes! Surprisingly, there are actually ways to do so.
You may have read about the styles of players and how they fit into a first quadrant designed by a PhD named Alan Schoonmaker in his reference work The Psychology of Poker. The matrix style grid I am referring to this book, the lines on each axis scale shook loose from a passive-aggressive scale.
For consideration, a rock solid tight player would be 1.1 on the scale because it is the tightest and most passive of all, and a maniac would 9.9 having the highest rating for looseness and aggression. You can view the poker profiling grid at this link.
Previously I wrote about sorting your players using an adapted version of Phil Hellmuth Creature Guide that includes lion, elephant, mouse, Jackyl, and Eagle, with my own Monkey player profiles. Seems to me a quicker way of identifying your opponents rather than having a number attached to the grid as 3.6 Notes on the players. This is not the grid less valuable, but a bit more useful to put your opponents more quickly on the grid while giving you a bit of a sequence double-checking.
For example, if I found a mouse in my desk, I can very well placed in the left lower quadrant too tight and passive. But if later you see him play in early J9os you may have to reconsider its position on the grid and thus its profile creation.
In sit and go poker tournaments, you must also keep in mind that all players change their character as the session progresses and players take more account of their carpets, curtains, and the price of money. These factors can turn a mouse into a maniac and a Lion in a Jackyl! It's not like you get a free poker turn to land on wealth online, but the strategy of creature can help.
