Korean Martial Arts – Hapkido, Taekyon, Moo Kwan, Yongmudo, Gyokdo Gwon, Hwa Rang Do
Moo Kwan Sun
A little-known Buddhist art based martial sun Moo Kwan includes meditation and physical training in order to help students grow toward enlightenment. Probably Original Zen (known as "sun" in Korean), it began after 1945 and in 1960, has been taught at Temple O Bom Korea.
Exceptionally, students participate in a remarkable exercise known as "tol Palki", which involves jumping from rock to rock on a mountain top, with the hope of reaching elusive "non-mental."
Yongmudo
Developed by professional sport scientists and former gold medalist in Yong-In University in Korea, is a new hybrid martial art Yongmudo to strengthen physical action, mental endurance, and functions that require both. It has become a mandatory part of physical education students, with three difficulty levels or rank beginner, intermediate and advanced. Yongmudo kicking techniques combines tae kwon do, moving and techniques projection of hapkido, and judo throwing techniques. This technique also includes elements of Ssireum and fencing.
Gwon Gyokdo
Also known as "kun gek do gyokdo Gwon" is a hybrid art that incorporates techniques of traditional Korean martial arts and Muay Thai. Founded by Jung Do Mo, who has studied Muay Thai, gyokdo Gwon combines Loved taekwondo kicks and boxing Muay Thai techniques. Exceptionally, open hand techniques are removed because of the danger of injury to fingers.
Still in its infancy in Korea, gyokdo Gwon is a competitive sport that includes the fight against ring and measure 27 techniques of self-defense iron, some of which defend against a team, and the knife. The training includes techniques of boxing style, such as slot knee and elbow strikes, practiced with protective gear. Unlike other martial arts, it focuses only on wai gong, "or external expertise. The students increase physical strength by weight training and drilling techniques, and state their hands and feet with heavy-bag work and on several occasions by striking a wooden plank wrapped in rope of rice straw.
Hwa Rang Do
This system defense and the attack is named after a warrior elite agent called the Hwa Rang, which existed during the period of Three Kingdoms Korean history (57 BCE to 668 CE) and was unique in the region Silla in the south of the country.
Modern style
Two brothers Joo Bang Lee and Joo Sang Lee, developed the program after studying with a monk named Dosa Suahm Hall Suk Wang Sa Ham Nam, North Korea. They escaped from South Korea when the Communists took over, then, during the 1960s and 70s, appeared in several documentaries that were broadcast worldwide. People watched in amazement they demonstrated amazing feats of strength and concentration, such as cracking bricks on their forehead and the weight of trucks traveling on their abdomens.
The system teaches the brothers used 108 different weapons, with three distance categories: striking the hand, foot, head, or a weapon; close lever, grappling and throwing techniques, and combat ground.
Students learn qi gong (chi gong "in Korean), meditation, breathing, full semicontact sparring, drills, and routines. The ultimate goals are in life balance and harmony with others and with nature. Proper alignment is a training center for use of strikes, throws and holds. To achieve a first degree black belt takes up to 15 years of training. Joo Bang Lee is currently the principal representative of Hwa Rang Do and the sole holder of black belt (10th Dan), the highest level.
Taekyon
Recognized by the Government Korea in 1983, but little known outside of Korea, Taekyon dancing is a traditional art and martial sport. It uses very efficient and extremely accurate shots foot in both attack and defense maneuvers.
It may be accompanied by dancing and singing on a rate of three to three compared date of four at other martial arts that remind Mongolian ancestry. The basic model building is unique and extremely difficult to learn, with unusual angles of attack are very effective in breaking down opponents.
Some experts consider it a sport because Taekyon matches were as form of entertainment in the 19th and 20th centuries.
triangular footwork
fighting techniques include "sonkisul" (action block) impulsive moves, grappling, and trapping, kicking, pushing, sweeping, stamps, and "palgisul" (TRIPS). These measures are combined with "pumbalki," the triangular footwork is supposed to mimic the timing of a galloping horse. A surprising fact about Taekyon is that players learn to be happy and relaxed during combat and should not focus too much on aggression and negative mental attitudes, such as hatred or anger. The attitude reduces muscle tension, leading to faster responses and reflexes. It also reduces the fear, which increases performance.
Renewed popularity
Taekyon popularity has fluctuated over the centuries, at one time it was even forbidden, but there was Recently renewed interest in art. However, in the past, it was mainly practiced by farmers, peasants, and gangsters, if training is random and there were many teachers. With success in combat that the main objective, the doctors today focus on learning and using a handful of effective techniques with a high degree of competence.
Hapkido
Hapkido is a systematized form of combat that uses throws, restraints, locks, chokes, kicks and strikes. The system is sweet and described briefly in the poem hapkido: "As the flowing stream penetrates and surrounds its obstructions, and any runoff enters stone, like the hapkido strength flow in and through its opponents. "The principles of concentration, balance, and build support hapkido. Timing and movement on the physical plane can also be adopted in the spiritual realms intellectual, emotional, and.
Influences hapkido
More than 2,000 years tradition influenced hapkido, including techniques ancient tribes (or "sado moosul") of archery and sword and knife fighting, that may have been carried on horseback. Confucian doctrine as its philosophy, while Buddhism warriors learn to take responsibility and act with kindness. Martial arts such as judo, jiu-jitsu, karate and has contributed to hapkido techniques. Added to that, kicking and striking techniques of Korean arts such as Subak and Taekyon, collection of fermented hapkido techniques in a way of life rather than just a method combat.
modern hapkido
After Yong Shul Choi founded the modern art of hapkido in the 1950s, only small groups practiced. Later, thanks to Jihan Jae, hapkido instructor leading the presidential guard, hapkido became very popular in Korea and abroad.
Hapkido emphasis is on self-defense as opposed to sport. Students learn to use weapons and the means to defend themselves against an untrained opponent, who is likely to rise slightly, the attacks of suffocation rather than type in a more coordinated, linear. They learn find the pressure points of acupuncture for unbalance opponents before a discount or a lock, or disable them.
To become a master Hapkido, practitioners must understand, apply and live by three principles: water moves around an object, but never loses power, the circle is endless, continuous movement, and harmony applied internally must also be directed to the outside each situation.
