There must be some algorithm– some reason behind who gets those precious beta keys… Could it be based on rare comp specs? Because they want to test out SC2 on different hardware? Or could it be based on how much a given account has played blizzard games? I don’t know. Anyone who has any inside knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

It is comp specs. The game is finished they want to test the spectrum of how well the balance works and how many units they can predict to pump out at the end of Q2.
