Enjoy a Grand Time in Beijing, China
The capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing is a municipality under the direct control of Central Government of China. Located on the east coast on the Pacific Ocean, with the Taihang Mountains to the north and the Yanshan Mountain in the west, Beijing is one of the largest metropolitan areas of trade and finance, and is the center of politics and international trade.
The history of the city as the capital of the country dates back over 800 years under the reign of Yuan Dynasty. Beijing has a variety of historical and impressive sites, which are mentioned in this article.
The greatest of all attractions in Beijing is the Forbidden City, which is the most magnificent and splendid palace complex architecture in the country. Built between 1406 and 1420, the Forbidden City is also known as the Palace Museum, and is one among the top five palaces in the world.
Another remarkable attraction in town is the Summer Palace, an imperial palace surprising that once served as the summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. The highlight of the palace is a royal garden, which is a great example of an imperial garden in classic Chinese style.
Beijing is also home to the Great Wall, the only manmade structure that is visible from the moon. Equally noteworthy is the historical sites as Temple of Haven, where according to legend, the Ming and Qing emperors performed solemn rituals for bountiful harvests. Built in 1420, the temple is the most largest of its kind in the country.
Top Attractions in Beijing also include Beihai Park, an exquisite destination in over 65 hectares of land, including half of the area is occupied by water. One of the oldest Chinese gardens, the park once served as the imperial gardens of the Liao Dynasty, including, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Highlights of the park are divided into four sections: Qionghua Islet, the circular city, the area of the north shore and eastern shore area.
Covering an area of about 40 square meters is a group of mausoleums of the Ming emperors, 13 empresses and their, which are collectively as the Ming Tombs. On the Ming Tombs, which are open to the public are Dingling and Changling, which in turn is an incredible underground palace. Beijing is a place for a plethora of exciting festivals, including Lantern Festival, Spring Festival in Beijing, and Longqing Gorge Lantern Festival. The city also hosts a series of international events as the International Conference of Entomology and the Asian Games.
