Tips on adjusting your marketing strategy in a Rough Economy
In the weeks following the Fourth of July, the Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned the public that NPR U.S. economy faces "numerous difficulties." Obviously most people know, that $ 4 a gallon gas and all seizures happening in every state. People are becoming more careful about where they spend their money hard won. Business owners and merchants are reminded that the economy is cyclical, and it is just another pause to deal with.
You can survive this downtime by adjusting your marketing strategies. You should be notified and simplified your marketing decisions. When times are tough, you do not want to cut from your marketing budget first, which is a common mistake. Your success long-term depends on your marketing campaign to remain strong. But strong does not mean expensive. For example, to save on printing costs, ask your catalog printing company if they will also print your business cards or brochures a discount. Many printing companies will be willing to give you a discount if you buy in bulk.
Here are some tips for you help tailor your marketing in a rough economy:
1. Know what is important to your customers in this rough economy. You need to know what motivates your target market and how they are dealing with today's economy. Are they not driving as much? Add to that free or low-cost delivery. The buyers are now willing to hold off on making big purchases, or they go with the brands they have a relationship with. Build your relationship at this difficult time responding to their concerns (such as high gasoline prices) and your solutions in your marketing materials.
2. Pay attention to your actual and projected sales. During a slow economy, you need to be constantly monitor your sales and adjust your strategies. Keep track of your incoming and projected sales and compare them with data from the past so that you can predict what will happen before it happens. Make sure marketing for the months ahead if you know that the fall is slow for your business. This way, you keep your customer flow stable. Move your annual sales from August to October If you think you'll need the sale then.
3. Do not try to introduce a new product or service today. A slowing economy is not the best time to launch a new element. If you own a coffee, now perhaps not the best time to introduce delicious pastries. You do not want to risk default when you can not be sure if this is your idea has failed, or simply the economy that your new business fail. Currently people might like the idea of enjoying a gourmet pastry with their coffee, but they can not afford at this time. But how will you know?
