The Sciences and the Teeth in Bible and Quran

Before dealing with the topic of the “Teeth” in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise.

The Teeth are mentioned 47 times in the Bible and only once in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions the Teeth 47 times more than the Quran

In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and 47 times (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about the Teeth.

The Teeth in the Bible:

Gnashing of teeth is found in 14 verses.

God (in his anger) gnashes his teeth at Job!

(Does God have teeth? He gnashes them?)

Whoever does not judge according to what Allah has sent down are the wrong-doers.

The Bible does not talk about whosoever forgoes the Law a freewill offering and its reward in the afterlie!

Surah 5:45

QARIB: we have written for them a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds equal retaliation, but whosoever forgoes it as a freewill offering, it will be expiation for him. Whoever does not judge according to what Allah has sent down are the harm doers.

SHAKIR: and we prescribed to them in it that life is for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth, and (that there is) reprisal in wounds; but he who foregoes it, it shall be an expiation for him; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unjust

YUSUFALI: we ordained therein for them: “life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal.” but if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for him. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) wrong-doers.

Who do atheists (please, *only* atheists) believe wrote the bible?

Broad agreement, I know: it’s a collection of wish-fulfilment fairy stories.

But… Who wrote it?

I’ve seen two constructions in R&S. One credits, “Bronze-age goat herders”; the other credits, “Bronze-age sheep herders”.

So, lets make sure we actually agree; what do you think? Sheep (need to be driven), or Goats (need to be led)?

Oh, and clearly there’s no disagreement or doubt on the bronze-age bit, I guess?

(And non-atheists, comments, carps, criticisms and other things starting with ‘c’ will be unceremoniously ignored, dumped and discounted. I thank you.)

Whether i´m an atheist or not seems to depend on the person who judges me, not myself, so you have to judge me for yourself and decide. I myself don´t think people fit into the categories they think they do.

Anyway, the Old Testament part of the Bible seems to be largely a collection of an oral tradition. Bits of it are very similar to certain Egyptian and Mesopotamian texts such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and Akhnaton´s hymn to the sun god. There´s the whole Documentary Hypothesis business too, that there are four traditions in the Torah named J, E, P and D. Some people attribute those partly to Ezra and Bathsheba but i don´t know why.

Concerning the Bronze Age, that came to an end in Anatolia when the Hittites learned how to smelt iron around 1 millenium BCE, but it gave them a military advantage to have iron weapons and they kept it secret. It took several centuries for the knowledge to leak out, so the Bronze Age ended at different times and generally did so very gradually. This might lead to the confusion. Now i know confusion starts with C but can you let me off this once, pretty please?
