The popularity of tanning is considered a cycle. There was a period in the time when the skin tans who was not a status symbol. The popularity of having a beautiful pale skin come on the market for some time, but, like other trends, have tanned skin is back and rest up now.

The fall of sunbathing

The timing of having brown skin was a decline, when it had a lighter skin has become a status symbol. This is because most of the royal blood in different civilizations avoid the sun and like to have paler skin. Having the skin color of the other became a status that was associated with slaves and other lower class people. What is the Sun God Helios Wear?

I am doing a project and I'm dressed as Helios the Sun God. Anybody know what kind of things Helios was. I know it was this type of headgear representing the sun, but I want to know what clothes he was wearing on the body and what color it was.

According Theoi, which is usually an excellent resource, Helios was depicted in Greek art as a handsome beardless man who usually wore purple robes and was crowned with the halo of brilliant sunshine. Ovid described as being 'purple clothes, "Nonnus calls it a "dress of fire" with "purple boots." I have included some pictures in the links below. Maybe you can make a dress or tunic purple cloth?
