Blue Mountains in Australia to see and do
If you were to just open your eyes and you find yourself in the Blue Mountains, NSW, no never guess you were only ninety minutes drive from the center of the largest city in Australia, Sydney. The Blue Mountains is one of the oldest in Australia rural holiday destinations and has not lost its popularity. It offers many for those seeking a romantic getaway and for families who want an environment healthy, active vacation.
Getting there: Getting to the Blue Mountains is easy. In western Sydney the lead after the signs of Parramatta. Then join the M4 (toll road near Sydney) and continue on the M4 to the edge of the Blue Mountains in Lapstone. You can then follow the signs to the tourist areas such as Katoomba. An alternative is to take the train from central Sydney CBD. There are about a train an hour and it takes about 90-120 minutes depending on the station you go. There are day trips to Sydney by bus and return to the city the same day, but stay in one of the great Blue Mountains accommodation for a few nights allow you to truly enjoy the area.
What to do: If you come to the Blue Mountains there is plenty to do. Obviously, you'll have to take in the fantastic scenery here are some ideas.
Points of view: The Blue Mountains offers some magnificent views. Some of the best known include Echo Point in Katoomba offers a superb view over the Three Sisters and in the valley Jamison. Wentworth Falls also offers a breathtaking view of the falls and the valley.
Hiking: There are hiking trails in the region and Blue Mountains National Park. Once you reach the Blue Mountains, then head to one of the tourist information centers such as the Katoomba and request a map of hiking trails leading marking. You can choose from short walks on the hiking trails artificial long and adventurous.
Scenic World: Located in central Katoomba Scenic World is the most popular attraction in the region and offers a number of ways to enjoy the view beautiful. Solitaire was created in 2000 by husband and wife team Georgia Shepherd and John Cross restaurant serves fantastic food Modern Australian and European influenced in a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant has won numerous awards including two hats Heads in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 and ranked as one of the Lonely Planet Top 5 places to eat in Australia in 2004.
Darley Restaurant at Lilianfels, Echo Point, Lilianfels Avenue, Katoomba.
Located in the historic center and luxurious Lilianfels Hotel, restaurant Darley has a long reputation for excellent cuisine and service. They received two hats Leaders in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009, one of only a few reach such a high reward. The restaurant specializes in cooking excellent country corresponding to the location and makes use of local products of high quality and excellent wines. Obviously somewhere for a special occasion and is not cheap. Expect to pay around $ 80 per person for two courses or about $ 100 for three courses with wine be extra. If you can not take your place in the menu, you can enjoy a number of interesting courses with the tasting menu accompanied by matching wines. When to go: In general, you find the Blue Mountains will be several degrees colder than the year in Sydney. The accommodation is well suited for cooler months and you will find many cottages have a fireplace to make things nice and cozy. You should find it a bit cooler than Sydney was well on the hottest days, it may take a long walk like hot work.
