Market Report 2007 of Amazon Rainforest Natural Products by Ilko Minev

Rosewood Oil

The production of rosewood of oil in 2007 has been improved and well above the previous year. In all, between the organic and ordinary guy, about 25 tons Rosewood oil has been produced. The reason for this increase is part of the 2006 production was delayed due to the exceptionally low water in the Amazon basin in the second half which affected much of the logistics in the region of production. Consequently, actual production was postponed to 2007. Again, organic products has been responsible for most of the growth due to increasing environmental concern. The year was marked by a strong appreciation of the real against the dollar in December 2007, the FOB price Manaus for the organic oil of U.S. $ 95 per kilo. As the trend continues, it is likely that the mark 100/kilo U.S. $ FOB will be surpassed in early 2008 (one USD is now worth 1.90 BRL). The Euro has been much more stable and therefore offers preferred customers of Europe in Euro.

There was a significant fact that happened in 2007: the market introduction of the first oil in rosewood leaves made of green branches and new planting. Initial production is low, only 2 drums, but we hope to be able to offer more in subsequent years. As the federal and state environmental exert tighter controls and stricter business, producers are increasing areas of plantations managed. It is a slow process, but the process is promising to guarantee the sustainability of rosewood oil production in the future. In 2008, oil will most likely organic rosewood continue its growth, while regular products continue to decline. With luck the total production could reach 25 tons, but more likely it will be a somewhat lower. In addition to the usual production, we expect to be able to offer 3 barrels of oil extracted from the leaves and branches only in 2008.

Copaiba balsam

The year 2007 has not been a good year for Copaiba Balsam. The market has been somewhat slower than the previous year, while the export market has been really slow. Due to the recovery of the real against the dollar price increased to US11.00/kilo FOB Manaus. At this price level it is impossible to find customers. Sellers sacrificed profit margins to close the few deals that have been conducted. Our expectation is that 2008 will also be a difficult year, as substitutes to win while Copaiba that the exchange rate is unfavorable. It depends on the exchange rate.

Tonka Beans

Harvesting beans Tonka was again relatively low. Prices at the end of the year was about 7.50 Euros per kilo. Because of the very availability rare and weak demand in recent years we are no longer focusing much more on this case.

Brazil Amazonas and Outlook 2007

The Brazilian economy has had another good (not great) year 2007, posting nearly 5% GDP growth. Much Part of this growth is attributable to the increased volume of credit in the economy, which reached 30% of GDP during the year and exports have soared because prices of commodities (mainly soy, sugar, coffee and metals).

The economy State of Amazonas has done exceptionally, with annual growth of over 10% for the third consecutive year. It is mainly due to the output growth of two-wheelers in the Manaus industrial district and the growth in services. Meanwhile, rates of deforestation in Amazon lowered to less than 700 sq.km, more than 1,500 sq.km before 2003.

Rosewood or maple button on a guitar?

I think buying a new guitar soon, a Stratocaster, and I was wondering what your preferences Keys were when he came? I never had guitars with rosewood keys, so I do not know.
