Great pictures found flaws or inclusions in the rocks!
Everyone I'm sure many enjoy the ancient stone dug bottles Chinese snuff, once treated, like the beautiful forms and purity of the stones used can not fail to impress. One might think that the approach was to avoid inclusions or defects, and form the bottle from only the best of the stone. This has often been case. But what I find even more fascinating is the incredible way they have deliberately and brilliantly took advantage of natural defects and inclusions often present in these stones.
Most quartz and jade stones have an outer layer of a different color, especially pebbles streambed. They also have flaws and defects as well as other color, often deep into the stone. Occasionally, they may very thin skin like inclusions, whereas other chunks are.
Considering that nobody knows what is at the heart of any of these rocks, until the cuts are made and the secrets of the stone are revealed, they discover the degree of purity, or otherwise, stone really is. With the stones of the inclusions or defects that "snuff Photo Agate are made. The best of these incredible bottles, once filled, able to make the inclusion, which forms the image look as if it appeared in the right place, as if to order!
There different types of work within this group of snuff bottles and the first are what we call 'Cameo' carvings. They enjoy all the outer skin and blob type of inclusion (of a different color), they can be quite thick and is carved in relief. Another type is called "Shadow Agates "and enjoy these inscriptions in stone, where, with the help of only a little sculpture, an image is created. Finally, the most fascinating are called "Silhouette Agates' but in the group without manifest sculpture is needed. The image was obtained mainly by the angle and the choice of form, and the size and position of the cylinder must be formed in the rock so that inclusion becomes an image. These bottles must be seen to be believed.
What is really amazing to me is the fact that there are even some of these bottles with pictures of both sides!
Unfortunately some of them have been signed. We know only that there was a certain school of carvers known as "Suzhou School '. Their works are easily recognizable by the style and quality of the sculpture, and the fact that they make use of all marks in the stone to form the image. These are bottles surprising when good, but there is much work later, which tend to look too stiff and lack of sculpture on the sidelines of the more fluid artistic masters sculptors. Unfortunately, only one of these bottles are very well dug.
Our first Chinese snuff
Thus, to describe my first purchase, it was a "bottle Shadow Agate pictures" involving a little carving, and well dug. It is a more appropriate the subject and the color of a snuff bottle, as russet inclusions were used to show "Putai Ho-chang. It is always represented as a very stout man with a bare chest and abdomen and he is the patron saint of tobacconists. In this bottle, he seems surprised by a bat while sitting Below are some tobacco leaves. The bat is a Chinese symbol of luck. You see how easy it is, well placed in the bottle but only the head and a suggestion of his hand have been carved. (See the photo using the link at the bottom of this article).
We now have a number of "Picture Agates and illustrate the different types described, a photograph of Duck with mushroom Lingzhi in its beak is a" good Silhouette " example. Moreover, the fungus is a symbol of wishing long life. This bottle is very rare because there is a recess carved originally to create the image used to build the dish. (See the photo using the link at the bottom of this article).
Finally, a superb bottle of fish with pictures of both sides: the pair of fish on one side are 'Cameo' carvings and Chinese represent fidelity and happy conjugal rights in marriage. Of the other side of a fish and aquatic plants make use of any mark in the stone, all in a bottle that is very well trained well dug. All these bottles illustrated were made between 1750 and 1860. (See photo using the link at the top of this article).
Evaluation
In judge effectively snuff hard stone, the first consideration should be affected by the impression of all arts. You must be satisfied that the work seems well constructed and properly positioned and the images formed flow rather than stiff and awkward. The next step is to have a look technical skills. When I look at a cameo type of carving I study the form and finish of the bottom near the edge of the carving. The poorest bottles This can be indented, uneven and not so well polished as the rest. Really beautiful examples look as if the party has raised cameo somehow been stuck a bottle of fine form. Engraved work at its best is very precise and gives details. When looking closely (magnifying glass) a bottle these poor carved pieces may seem very crude.
Is Rosetta Stone to sell Chinese lessons in Mandarin?
The way things are going, it seems that we might want to be able to understand our new leaders.
Hell Ya. They even Navajo and Kiswahili (which I think is the best thing ever). Peace
