Coils Child on the carrot and dies – that your Au Pair know CPR?

Tragedy struck one day school on Long Island Wednesday, March 16, 2009, when police said a two year old girl died after choked on a piece of raw carrot.

According to Carousel Day School in Hicksville, New York, the girl began choking after eating a piece of carrot. Child care workers tried to perform CPR on him, before rushing the toddler in Nassau Medical University Center where she was pronounced dead at 4:25 pm

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child dies in the U.S. of choking on food every five days!

Is this your au pair certified in CPR? What your agency to train your au pair to manage properly such an emergency if your child started choking on food? If your au pair does not CPR certification or skills to dislodge food from the throat of a child, it can mean the difference of life or death for your child.

We took a look 12 au pair agencies and we have found information on health and safety on all sites that confirm their au pairs receive some training in first aid and CPR. The U.S. State Department requires that some form of basic training must be provided during the orientation of 4-5 days at par.

We found that only one agency has all the basic CPR training that the results of a certification CPR!

Take a look at what the agencies say they provide (not all agencies are listed here that most of them only had one or two sentences on "training" given to the au pair before they are made to your home):

Au Pair in America

In terms of training in CPR, Au Pair in America states their "orientation includes seminars organized by the American Red Cross (training) instructors who provide practical demonstrations in infant / child CPR and safety. "What training is not specified and the peer does not receive CPR certification.

However, APIA will pay for a minor child / CPR and First Aid Certification for au pairs and child standard / Adult CPR certification par Educare. The way it works is, your au pair is a Red Cross training in your city, pay for it (or you), complete and passes the course, having received his certification and will reimburse APIA. CPR training costs about $ 200 and it is well worth the money.

APIA is the only au pair agency that reimburses your au pair for this training.

Pair Care

Pair Care Au Pair has an academy where the au pairs receive "Hands-on American Heart Association CPR and first aid training." They provide no CPR training base which results in a CPR certificate standard or educare par. They did CPR certification for par enrolled in the infant program specialist.

Pair of baby care at specialized training program:

Au Pair Care is the only organization in pair providing CPR Certification Training Core, but only in their infant immunization program.

Training "uses a practical approach to train youth au pair safety and child care and child stimulation and development. "AuPairCare Infant Specialized au pairs take a course in infant CPR certification and First Aid by the American Heart Association.

A spokesman for Care Au Pair told us they could not guarantee that all au pairs will pass the course (about 8 + hours of training and a formal test), but she said they had "great success" with this program and CPR training certification.

"Au pair also receive instruction from certified trainers AuPairCare in infant massage with the Foundation KidzTM Liddle, and training of trainers certified in sign language for babies by Baby Fingers, a Lead Infant Sign Language organizational learning. "

The program of specialized care for infants is a wonderful place to start if you have a child and are looking for child care au pair – we strongly recommend that if you have a child under the age of 22 months, call AuPairCare First!

IX Au Pair

This program will provide full-day "health and security of children with an American Red Cross instructor license by focusing on:

First Aid, CPR and artificial respiration
Awareness for the Prevention of Accidents
For fire, toys, internal security and external
Healthcare basic child

Cultural Care

Upon arrival in the United States, pairs cultural care "attending an exclusive training program focuses on four days of children's development and security. In our single pair training school offers courses dedicated and experienced educators in the classroom. Small class sizes allow teachers to give even one-to-one attention. "
