Authors donating proceeds from their books to worthy causes?
What do you think about authors donating proceeds from their books to worthy causes?
Dean Koontz’s dog Trixie (RIP) “writes” books and all the Author’s royalties from Trixie’s enterprises are donated to Canine Companions for Independence.
I know a lot of other authors do similar things for other worthy causes and I was wondering, would this fact alone make you buy the book?
My answer: No, sorry. I don’t have a lot of money so unless I was going to buy the book anyway I would not purchase it just because the royalties were being donated.
I totally agree with you. The same is true for musicians who make songs for charity. It’s a great sentiment; but unless I wanted to read the book or own the song I’d never buy it. I hope that doesn’t make me a terrible person; but that’s the way I feel.
