Three Chinese Gods House (three-star) sculpture made from mammoth ivory

The names of the three Chinese gods of the House are: Fu, Luk and Shau.

Fu Fu Star is associated with Yang Cheng, a governor of Daozhou. Yang Cheng risked his life by writing a brief to the emperor to save the people from suffering. After his death, people built a temple to his memory, and over time he came to be regarded as the personification of good fortune. The Fu star is often placed at the center when all three are represented as a group. It is usually represented dressed as a scholar, holding a scroll on which is sometimes written the character "Fu". It can also be seen holding a child, or surrounded by children.

Lu, in traditional Chinese astronomy, the sixth star in the cluster Wenchang, and as the star Fu came to be personified. The star is considered by Lu Zhang Xian, who lived during the Later Shu Dynasty. The word refers specifically to read salary of a government. As such, the star Lu is the star of prosperity, the rank and influence. The star Lu also worshiped separately from the other two successfully dictate divinity in the imperial examinations, and therefore the success of the imperial bureaucracy. Star Lu is generally represented in the dress of a mandarin.

Shau, the star of the South Pole astronomy Chinese, and is believed to control the life of mortals. According to legend, he was transported to his mother within ten years before being born, and he was already an old man delivery. It is recognized by his forehead and fishing where he works as a symbol of immortality. God Longevity is usually shown smiling and friendly, and it can sometimes be carrying a gourd filled with Elixir of Life.

Many Chinese believe they are very good in their lives when they are the three things: harmony, happiness and long life. It is also felt that having a picture or statue of the Three House of God (Fuk, Luk, Sau) in his house brings good luck and protection at home. How to "cast" garden statue bird bath held in comparison to those of concrete?

What are the differences in longevity? I do not know if the real part of the bath is made of plaster or concrete, but it is really heavy. the statue on top is hollow and very finely carved. Both are very good, but the bowl is again very heavy and hard. What could it be for anyone who could guess? So thank you for your answers!

the Plaster tends to crack with age, as they have water in the structure. I have a gargoyle, and the only way to protect yourself is to paint it with varnish or paint. Everyone that I finally concrete well, but are not as detailed. I prefer the plastic ones I have for detail and age, but they are plastic.
