Bangkok Shrines and Spirit Houses – seeking the blessings of the divine
Maintaining a culture enriched by the religious values, Thais pay homage to many shrines and spirit houses located throughout the country. Bangkok is no exception for the housing of many places of worship.
Sanctuaries in Bangkok are dedicated to the deities venerated in Hinduism and Buddhism. The devotees offer their prayers and offerings to the shrines to invoke blessings. In return, they would be granted with success, love, happiness, happiness and even fertility. Some of the most prominent temples in Bangkok are Ganesha Temple Erawan Shrine, a place of worship and Trimurti Mae Nak shrine to mention a few. Spirit houses are elegantly designed as a sanctuary size doll house, decorated with multi-level roofs. Some roofs have prangs miniature influenced by the Khmer style pagoda. These models represent human figures of spectators and dancers, animals like elephants and horses, and sometimes plants such as bananas. garlands of small beads or floral in tussles adorn the roof and drape each side of its gable, while large wreaths in vivid hues around the spirit house. Travelers to Bangkok can easily identify homes without any lying spirit house or building.
