Ancient Chinese Art

Different art forms have been influenced by great philosophers, teachers, religious figures and even political leaders.

The earliest forms of Chinese art were made of pottery and jade from the Neolithic period, which added bronze in the Shang dynasty. The Shang are most famous for their bronze casting, noted for its clarity of detail.

Fragments of pottery dating from about 9000 BC the year is set to Xianrendong (Spirit Cave) site, Wannian County in Jiangxi Province are some of the oldest known Chinese ceramics. The goods were hand made by coiling and fired in bonfires. Decorations include impressed cord marks, and feature films produced by stamping and piercing.

Xianrendong The site was occupied from about 9000 until BC to 4000 BC. During this period two types of pottery were made. The first consisted of wares wholesale body may for everyday use. The second being finer, the goods are thinner body, possibly for ritual use or special occasions. There is archaeological evidence suggesting that both types of goods were produced in parallel at some point.

Some experts believe the first true porcelain was made in the province of Zhejiang during the Eastern Han period. Chinese experts emphasize the presence of a proportion of minerals china construction (china clay, porcelain or a combination of both) as an important factor in the definition of the porcelain. Shards recovered from archaeological sites of Eastern Han kiln estimated cooking temperature varies from 1260 to 1300 ° C, as far as 1000 BC. In early imperial China, porcelain was introduced and has been refined to the point that China English word has become synonymous with high porcelain quality.

During the Sui and Tang period (581-906) a wide range of ceramics, low-fire and high-fired, were produced. This including the famous Tang lead-glazed sancai (three colors) goods, the great fire, lime-glazed Yue celadon wares and low alleging Changsha. In northern China, large fire, translucent porcelains were made in kilns in the provinces of Henan and Hebei. One of the first mentions of porcelain an alien was made by an Arab traveler during the Tang Dynasty recorded the following:
They''China clay very Fine with which they make vases that are transparent as glass, water is considered by them. The vases are made of clay "

link with burial goods Tang sancai became very popular for art. "Sancai" means three colors. However, the colors of enamels used to decorate the wares of the Tang dynasty were not limited to three. In the West, Tang wares are sometimes referred sancai egg and spinach by dealers for the use of green, yellow and white. Although the last of the two colors can be more accurately described as amber and off white / cream.
