I found a Chinese or Asian ancient coin, how do I know if it's worth something?
Is between the size of a quarter and nickel and is the color of a penny, so I guess it is brass. One side has a building and the other side has a "10" which is inside what appears to be wheat or something similar. There is no date that I see everything is obviosuly written in Chinese or any language that is part of. Any ideas what a copper coin with a 10 on it known in China or surrounding areas?
It is a piece of 10 Japanese yen, and non-Chinese as I could not find parts from China, which is what you have described. The piece is made of bronze, brass not the kind of pieces and has been in circulation since 1951. Obverse part represents the 900 years Byodo-in temple in Kyoto, with the kanji written "Nihon koku (??? means Japan) on top and the name "Ju On" (? ? yen means ten) to the bottom. The reverse was also the 10 name and the date surrounded by Kanji bay laurel leaves. If the reverse is the kanji "??", this means that the piece is made of the Showa period 1951-88, and if a "? ?" then it is the current Heisei period issued since 1989. These pieces of 10 yen against these two periods are still in circulation and have values less than $ 0.50 on average distributed.
