Vancouver Winter Olympics: Chinese Pair Incredible Performance Wins Them Skating Gold

Finally the gold medal for best in the pair’s figure skating short program at the Vancouver winter Olympics went to the jubilant couple of Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo from China. What a perfect way to kick start their valentine celebrations and their Chinese new year. Returning just from retirement, and having won two bronze medals in the last two Olympics, this duo this time hit the pacific coliseum and with a magnificent 76.66 points bagged the gold medal.

Again in the pacific coliseum where the 2010 winter Olympics is being hosted on Monday will be the free skate final and hopefully these Chinese couple will take the gold. But it is expected they will face a stiff challenge from Germany’s two time reigning world champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, in second place with only 0.70 less points than them. Also another challenge comes from Russia’s Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov.

Yao Bin Chinese national coach recognizes that there was a lot of pressure on the couple to put their best performance in the Vancouver Olympics game. These best performances won them triumph in the Pacific Coliseum. With Queens, Who wants to live forever playing in the background, they easily changed their best moves in the two and a half minute routine to win the dream of their lifetime: an Olympic gold medal.

But with the free skate final on Monday. Definitely Hongbo and Xue have to pull out more muscle in the face of the Competition expected. Hopefully the 2010 Vancouver winter Olympics will end with more surprises.
