What is the difference between a shishi, Komainu, karajishi & dog fuu? Are they the same?

I was confused for a time about these: If it is called Fu / Fuu / foo "dog" then why is he a lion? (They are usually depicted with the body a lion, red fur, gold or ears of a Labrador and the tail of a horse.) Japanese Shishi I think it also means "lion dog a dog shishi fu? (Shishi are established as a dog with ears of a RETRIVER gold, spots of a leopard and a wavy fur long tail.) karajishi One is Japanese for "Chinese lion" I think, is this the same animal as well? (It is very similar to Shishi, but have ears Akita) and names of others I have heard is a Komainu it means "Korean dog" (the whole animal looks like a dog, mane a lion and a single horn like a unicorn). … All these creatures of the same or are they different?
