Mirror of Buddhist culture and heritage
The Dabei Buddhist Monastery is one of the most beautiful and well preserved monasteries to visit in the culturally rich city of Tianjin. The whole site is an aura of serenity and ancient heritage with dignity. The monastery was built during the early years of the Qing Dynasty and has undergone considerable renovations under Rule of Emperor Kangxi of the same dynasty. There is much to explore in the monastery he exhibits various Buddhist statues and artefacts.
The Dabei Target = "_blank"> Buddhist monastery is divided into two main sections: the eastern part which houses the new monasteries and the western part which is the home of former monastery. Apart from new monasteries in the courtyard of the east, tourists can see a statue of Sakyamuni stands majestically at a height of 7 feet, weighing about 6 tons.
The lotus throne of the statue is composed of 9999 elaborately carved Buddha images in its database. Other major sculptures exploring here include mud Thousand Hands Kwan-Yin image, which is in great compassion Hall. Memorials to Master Hongyi Xuanzang and are also located in the courtyard of the monastery.
The western part of the Dabei Buddhist Monastery is home to important buildings and offices such as the Palace Abbot Tianjin branch of the Chinese Association of Buddhism and Cultural Relic Palace. A Cultural Palace is a delight to explore because it displays unique and exhibits interesting and diverse collections of early dynasties as far as the Wei and Jin periods. The artifacts and Buddhists to see here include the countless historical Buddha statues made of different materials such as iron, wood and stone taken from different dynasties.
The Dabei Buddhist Monastery was originally known in Tianjin for housing the relic skull of Xuanzang. However, this relic was presented to target = "_blank"> India in 1956 and now resides in the Patna Museum. Streams of people and tourists continue visit the monastery both for worship and tourist purposes.
