How can you tell the difference between a Siberian Cat and a Maine Coon species of cat?
I have a friend with a beautiful cat named Tucker she told me too find out his breed online I thought he was a Siberian of the Lynx variety, white mane, tufted ear, loves water, extremely loyal, nearly 5 foot vertical jump, and he is huge and at just a little over a year old, after researching online we began calling him a Siberian. However the vet says she thinks he’s a Maine Coon anyway to tell the difference?
Did they buy it from a breeder and pay at least $600.00 for it? If not then odds are the cat is simply a “domestic” – a cat of no particular breed just like over 97% of the cats on this entire planet.
Cats were domesticated thousands of years ago and breeds only established in the last hundred or so years. So most cats have NO breeds whatsoever in their history. Add to that the fact breeders tend to sell their kittens altered and never allow crossbreeding so you just don’t end up with “mixes” like so many people incorrectly think.
